LOS ANGELES-Children’s entertainment icon, hip hop MC, and huggable bear Hip Hop Harry (hiphopharry.com) announced they are bringing morals and manners to the world of kid’s television. Creator Claude Brooks was raised by a single mother that instilled a strong sense of moral character in him, which he carries over into the character of Hip Hop Harry.
Brooks, who has had a very successful acting career that started with The Wiz and concluded with Bowfinger, attributes his success in both the worlds of acting and producing to the values his mother placed in him. His aim is to spread these same ideals of respect, civility, and virtue to the youth via the vehicle of Hip Hop Harry, so that they can have the same success in all aspects of their lives. One perfect example of this at play is in the Hip Hop Harry episode “Do Your Part” in which all the of the kids that attend Hip Hop Harry’s after school center, Hip Hop Central, all work together to put on a surprise birthday for the character Pinky. Each kid takes on a different task (one blows up balloons, another prepares the music, etc.) and enthusiastically shoulders responsibility so that Pinky can have an unforgettable birthday. In turn, the children watching are taught by example the rewards of being responsible and working towards the happiness of others.
